Here's the latest Yankees news and buzz ahead of the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline...

The Nationals could be sellers at the trade deadline despite being competitive, which is why they are likely to hold onto All-Star shortstop CJ Abrams , despite the Yankees checking on his availability.
According to The Athletic's Spencer Nusbaum and Will Sammon , New York has "at least" checked in on Abrams to see if they can upgrade the shortstop position.
But as the report states, the Nationals are not shopping Abrams, but will listen to offers. In fact, the Brewers, who are also looking to upgrade at shortstop, are expected to explore the possibility of trading for Abrams again soon.
Abrams has already hit a career-high 24 home runs while batting .289 with an OPS of .907.
The Yankees, of course, are looking to upgrade at catcher and in the bullpen, but could use the…
