Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Xavier Nwankpa spoke with reporters after practice on Monday at Missouri Western State University. He discussed his reasons for joining Kansas City after going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft and his ambition to make the final roster.
"I feel like they get DBs; they'll get them paid. There wasn't too many veteran safeties on this team, so I wanted to come in and have a chance to play special teams, and obviously Coach (Steve) Spags (Spagnuolo) is a great Defensive Coordinator." said Nwankpa, "The Defensive Backs Coaches (Defensive Backs/Safeties Coach Andre Curtis and Defensive Backs Coach Dave Merritt) are great, so I just wanted to come in here and be the best player to myself every day."
Nwankpa signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie free agent. He has hopes of breaking through for a spot in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's young…
