The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) has said that it plans to submit a formal complaint to FIFA over Donald Trump’s interference in Folarin Balogun’s red card.
The United States forward was set to miss his nation’s last-16 clash with Belgium after being sent off during their 2-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina in the last 32, but it later emerged that US President Donald Trump encouraged FIFA to 'review' the decision.
Trump had personally spoken on the phone to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and FIFA subsequently confirmed that Balogun’s ban would be suspended for 12 months, leaving him available to play in his country’s Round of 16 tie, which they lost.
