The 2026 World Cup is over, and instead of focusing on the joys of the event, FIFA President Gianni Infantino took a moment to call out its critics in one of his first comments since the final.
In a lengthy social-media post, Infantino ripped critics whom he accused of " spreading hate " during the 2026 World Cup.
Infantino's statement immediately begins with him calling out those who "missed our beautiful game."
"To all of you who missed watching kids, babies, grandparents, and parents come together for the beautiful game, I say sorry that the matches are now over and sorry that you missed all that joy and togetherness.
"Sorry that you were so consumed by hate and criticism that you missed it all."
From there, Infantino appeared to take a shot at journalists covering the 2026 World Cup:
