Chevron has stated that gas flaring in its plants has reduced by 98 per cent.
Speaking during a capacity training for energy correspondents yesterday in Abuja, Chevron’s Communications Manager, Victor Anyaegbudike said it has a policy of gas monetisation as the backbone of its operation in Nigeria and it is targeting 100% end to gas flaring in bringing gas byproducts into the market for use.
He added that the company has spent about $1bn for local content annually and in the past 10 years gave out $10 billion in supporting Nigerian companies and supporting local capacities.
“Most of the names you hear in the industry today who are very good in terms of their capacity in the industry came from some of the Chevron projects. We talk about the Establish Gas to Liquid projects where we had 16,000 people working to develop that project and we have others who came out of Chevron projects…
