Tyson Smoothy has previously had spells in the NRM with Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos [SWPIX.COM] Wakefield Trinity have confirmed hooker Tyson Smoothy will join new NRL side Perth Bears at the end of the season after being released from his contract on compassionate grounds.
The 27-year-old Australian joined Trin on a three-year deal for this campaign but head coach Daryl Powell said earlier this month that he would be leaving at the end of 2026.
Smoothy has scored four tries in 21 appearances in all competitions to help Wakefield to second in Super League.
"Tyson has made a fantastic contribution to the squad this season and while we would love to keep him, we are conscious of family circumstances and his desire to return home," director of rugby Ste Mills told the club website.
