Jul. 25—There's no bigger Unity Rockets fan around than 9-year-old Katelyn Humer. Turns out the high school kids enjoy rooting her on, too.
At the annual Tom Jones Challenger League all-star game, her family and fans showed up in droves, filling a section at Eichelberger Field in Urbana (right). Better yet, her on-field buddy was Dane Eisenmenger, one of her favorite Rockets and now a freshman quarterback at Illinois.
Katelyn, a fun-loving fourth-grader at Unity West, is a regular at high school football, basketball and baseball games. Coaches welcome her presence as she provides a boost in both player morale and homefield advantage.
"She cheers very loud and boisterous," said her dad, Chris. "Let's just say she's very supportive."
