LOVES PARK, Ill (WTVO) — Day three of the Women’s Baseball World Cup took place Friday with Team USA looking to continue its winning ways. After outscoring their first two opponents 46 to 7, Team USA was finally getting a challenge against Team Australia. A team that outscored its opponents 33 to two. There was sure to be fireworks in the game.
Team USA had no trouble scoring runs once again, as in the bottom of the first, Naomi Ryan went the other way, dropping in a single right in front of the left fielder. That scored Kate Blunt for the first run of the game.
Australia would also be able to find success in terms of runs, thanks to an RBI single by second baseman Claire O’Sullivan, but USA responded right back. Captain Alex Hugo rips one into the left field corner for a double in the third. Later in the same inning, USA catcher Denae Benites gets some air under one, and it keeps on…
