After a roughly hour-long rain delay, the Washington Nationals are back to two games above .500 after evening the series against the Toronto Blue Jays following an 8-6 finish on Tuesday night.
Cade Cavalli lasted six innings and tossed 98 pitches to pick up the win and move to 8-4 on the season, allowing two earned runs and six hits to go with three strikeouts. Tom Cosgrove and Orlando Ribalta both stepped in to pitch a clean inning, while Clayton Beeter picked up his 11th save of the season.
Brady House, stepping in as a pinch hitter for Jorbit Vivas, finished 2-for-3 to join Luis Garcia Jr. as the lone Nationals to record multi-hit games, accounting for half of the team's hits in the win.
Washington set the tone in the first inning after James Wood both opened and closed the inning, giving an idea for just how dominant of a start the Nationals got out to.
