The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has awarded scholarships and bursaries to 5,312 indigent students across the state, as part of his continued investment in education and human capital development.
Speaking at the third Yayi Scholarship/Bursary Award Programme in Abeokuta on July 26, he disclosed that more than 17,000 students applied for the scholarship/bursary award.
Of the 5,312 beneficiaries, he said that 1,735 students were awarded scholarships, while 3,577 students received bursary payments.
The scholarship programme, which commenced three years ago, is for students in tertiary institutions from the 20 local government areas of Ogun State, and aims to ease the financial burden on families, expand access to education, and support academically promising students from disadvantaged…
