Andrew Butchart could only finish 13th in the 10,000m [PA Media] Tinseltown in the Rain by local legends The Blue Nile welcomed athletes to a soggy Scotstoun Stadium for day two of the Commonwealth Games athletics.
Persistent rain would soon turn torrential, with a little thunder and lightning thrown in making conditions tricky, to say the least.
Andrew Butchart admitted he may have "wished too much" for rainy conditions, after finishing 13th in the 10,000m where fellow competitor Samuel Simba Cherop ran with one shoe and one soggy sock for much of it - and still finished seventh.
"I said beforehand I was wishing for the rain - I maybe wished too much because it came down pretty heavy," Butchart told BBC Scotland.
"I enjoyed it tonight and that's what matters to me. I had fun.
"The crowd were what made that special for me, even if the performance wasn't. I heard shouts every lap.…
