The Rudyard Lions Club will host the 29th Annual Summerfest Triathlon and 5K on Sunday, July 26.
The event is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. outside the Rudyard High School's Larry G. Davis swimming pool, located at 11185 W. Second St. According to organizers, the triathlon presents a unique challenge due to its reverse order format. Participants will start with a 5K “out and back” run, then transition to a 23.1K bike course and end with a .5K swim in the Rudyard pool. The 5K course can also be completed as a standalone race.
"This triathlon, because of the distances of events, is a great race for both novice and competitive racers,” said Chairperson Gary Davis in a statement. “Top athletes will finish in a few minutes, over one hour, and some racers whose main goal is to complete the entire course finish in around two hours.
