Round 2 of the Rocket Classic: LIVE leaderboard

Detroit — The final Rocket Classic is off to a scorching stop.

The first round of Detroit's PGA Tour stop at the new-look at Detroit Golf Club saw binges of birdies early Thursday morning, with Peter Malnati opening with a 61 that tied the course record set last year by Jake Knapp.

At 9 under, Malnati held a two-shot lead over 2023 Rocket Classic champion Rickie Fowler and Ryan Gerard.

The second round was set to get under way Friday morning.
