Report: Man City ready to replace Rodri with La Liga midfielder Marc Bernal, Rodri succession and why Man City may have to wait
Manchester City are doing what smart clubs should do, they are planning ahead. According to Caught Offside , their search for a future holding midfielder has brought them to Barcelona teenager Marc Bernal, a player described as one of the club’s standout academy products. The logic is obvious. Rodri has been the reference point in midfield for years, and replacing that profile was never going to be simple.
The report states that City “view Bernal as a potential long-term replacement for Rodri.” It also explains why. Bernal offers “physical presence, composure in possession and ability to receive the ball under pressure”, traits any top side wants at the base of midfield, especially in Enzo Maresca’s structure.
