NEW YORK — As the Mets welcome the Dodgers in Flushing, it is hard to imagine the two sides further apart despite the two highest payrolls in MLB.
The Mets endured a terrible first half and find themselves at the precipice a massive trade deadline sell-off.
The Dodgers (65-38) have the best record in baseball and are poised to be buyers as they look to secure their third straight World Series crown.
The two sides will open a three-game series at 7:10 p.m. on Friday night at Citi Field.

The veteran lefty is 2-5 with a 4.75 ERA and 1.36 WHIP this season. He allowed four earned runs on seven hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 4⅔ innings.
