The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Wukari branch, Taraba state, has dismissed claims that it is mobilizing teachers to register for Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, describing the allegation as false and misleading.
The denial follows an online publication circulated which alleged that the union was going about encouraging teachers to participate in PVC registration.
In a statement issued by the branch chairman, Bawa Baaku, on Saturday, the NUT said the report was entirely unfounded and did not represent its position or activities.
The union stressed that it remains a professional trade union and not a political organization, adding that it does not engage in partisan political activities.
“The primary mandate of the NUT is to protect the welfare of teachers, promote their professional development, safeguard their legitimate interests, and support the advancement of quality education,”…
