Lando Norris "wants to believe' McLaren can fight for more victories in 2026, after taking the papaya team's first Grand Prix victory of the year at the Hungarian GP. His teammate Oscar Piastri , however, looked good for P2 before suffering a gearbox issue and DNF with 13 laps to go.
Norris had lined up on Pole Position after beating Lewis Hamilton by 0.012s on Saturday, but lost his lead to his Aussie teammate on the first lap. Opting to stay out after Piastri pitted halfway through the race, Norris lapped well and was rewarded with the net lead following contact between his teammate and back-marker Carlos Sainz - there was no catching the world champion from then.
