A Kano State High Court sitting on Miller Road has sentenced a newlywed, Saudat Idris to death by hanging after finding her guilty of murdering her husband, Salisu Idris, nine days after their wedding
Delivering judgment, Justice Maryam Sabo said the court was satisfied that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
She noted that the evidence presented by the state’s counsel, Lamido Abba Soran Dinki, including the testimonies of two witnesses, established the defendant’s guilt
The judge consequently convicted Saudat Idris of culpable homicide and sentenced her to death by hanging in accordance with the law.
Speaking to journalists after the judgment, the prosecuting counsel, Dinki, expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, saying justice had been served based on the evidence presented during the trial.
