NBA Free Agency: How Is Ausar Thompson Impacted By Jalen Duren Contract Discussions?

Throughout the offseason, there is no denying that the ongoing length of Jalen Duren’s contract discussions with the Detroit Pistons will have trickle-down effects on the rest of the squad.

For one, the longer Duren waits before inking a deal with Detroit, the less clarity the team has when it comes to making any more deals during the summe r. If Duren eventually agrees to a max deal , then the Pistons would not have much financial flexibility to make moves on the free agent market. But if Duren is forced to sign the qualifying offer for substantially less than he would like, then the Pistons would have a lot more money at their disposal, though it could come at the expense of ruining the relationship with their 22-year old All-Star center.
