MTN Nigeria says the average mobile data consumption per subscriber has risen to 14.8GB, reflecting Nigerians’ growing appetite for internet services as smartphone adoption continues to increase. This figure is according to its latest H1 2026 financial report.
The telecom company disclosed that average data usage per subscriber increased 15.2% year-on-year, helping drive data revenue up by 38.4% to ₦1.70 trillion in the first half of 2026, compared with ₦1.23 trillion during the same period in 2025.
Data remains MTN Nigeria’s largest source of service revenue, accounting for more than half of the company’s ₦2.97 trillion service revenue generated during the six-month period. The company attributed the growth to an increase in active data users, rising smartphone penetration, and sustained demand for high-speed internet services.
