As the call for sustainability is gradually permeating urban development, estate developers in Abuja and other big cities across Nigeria are gradually integrating environmentally friendly amenities into their building plan.
Already major cities across the world see sustainable estates as an integral part to achieveing sustainable development goals
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), an arm of the United Nations that advocates sustainable housing highlights that integrated urban planning can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 23 to 26 per cent by 2050.
The Organisation has also called for eco-friendly estates and sustainable urban development through its Strategic Plan, focusing on climate-resilient housing, green building practices, and inclusive neighborhood designs.
