Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach continued his torrid play in the U.S. Junior Amateur on July 24 at the Saucon Valley Country Club Old Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, turning in a flawless performance against an opponent who already has earned a college All-Conference award.
In the other quarterfinal match involving a First Coast player, Tyler Mawhinney parred the 18th hole to defeat Sohan Patel 1-up, earning a semifinal match against Russell at 2:45 p.m. ET.
Russell, 17, who still has one more year before he arrives on the Florida State campus , dispatched rising college sophomore Dylan Boenning of Washington State 6 and 5 in their morning quarterfinal match, marking the first time Russell has advanced to the semifinals in four appearances in the U.S. Junior Am.
