Michigan basketball and Duke were set for an early 2026-27 season reprise, as the national champion from the past season was set to take on the No. 1 overall seed from the same NCAA Tournament for the second time in a calendar year. The Blue Devils won the first contest between the storied programs, and the matchup was supposed to be the second between Dusty May and Jon Scheyer. However, May summarily departed Ann Arbor for the NBA, so that no longer was going to happen.
But the matchup itself is now also off the books.
According to ESPN college basketball insider Jeff Borzello, the game originally set for Madison Square Garden and then moved to Miami is officially canceled.
