The New York Mets ’ disappointing 2026 season took another painful turn Saturday. The Mets placed star outfielder Juan Soto on the injured list with a left calf strain, the team announced. Soto exited Friday night’s 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers after the injury continued bothering him.
MLB insider Jon Heyman confirmed the move Saturday.
“Soto goes on the IL with a left calf strain, Mets announce,” Heyman wrote.
The Mets did not immediately provide a firm timetable for Soto’s return. However, the injury will keep their best hitter out of the lineup as the organization approaches the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline with a 43-61 record.
