Mets right-handed pitching prospect Jonah Tong has posted two straight quality outings after striking out nine batters for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday night.

Tong pitched 4.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits. The 23-year-old would have gone deeper if he hadn't been burned by the walks, which he had four of against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. That helped push his pitch count to 91 pitches. Otherwise, it was a strong outing for Tong, who hasn't had many this season.

His night started off with a leadoff walk to Yankees No. 1 prospect George Lombard Jr., but Tong bounced back to strike out the next three batters, including J.C. Escarra and Spencer Jones. Tong's lone earned run came in the second, after Scranton got the first two batters on base thanks to a walk and a single from Oswaldo Cabrera. Tyler Hardman grounded out to push across the runner from third, but Tong worked around…
