Upon further review, Marc Gibson had to laugh.
He watched as a defender had an angle to engage Clyde's Matt Guhn face to face and possibly force Guhn out. Instead, the defender slowed so that it appeared he was chasing Guhn.
Gibson saw the thought process of a 160-pound safety unfold. The defender didn't want to get trampled by 240 pounds.
It certainly wasn't a technique taught by coaches. Fundamentals were almost irrelevant as many defenders tried to get lucky and trip Guhn, who graduated in 2007 and was one of 10 Clyde athletes in a poll this week to determine who you remember since the year 2000.
"If you get him to the second level, nobody was going to tackle him," Gibson said. "He knew how to stiff arm and lower his shoulder. That little DB had a business decision. 'How do I take on this tank coming at me?'"
