LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The Lansing Lugnuts withstood a late comeback attempt by the Great Lakes Loons on Sunday, earning an 8-7 win to take four out of six games in the series.
The Loons jumped ahead in the early stages, aided by a big afternoon from Chuck Davalan. Davalan hit an RBI triple in the second and added a solo home run in the fourth. He’d finish the day 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.
However, the Lugnuts surged ahead with a four-run fifth inning. Lansing strung together five hits in the frame, including four singles and an RBI double by Myles Naylor.
The teams traded runs in the sixth and the Lugnuts pushed the lead to 8-5 with an RBI single by Ali Camarillo in the seventh.
Great Lakes answered back once again with two runs in the eighth, a solo home run by Samuel Munoz and an RBI triple by Eduardo Quintero after a Chase Adkison walk.
