The quarterback class in the 2026 NFL Draft was overall considered pretty weak, relatively speaking. The 2027 crop is expected to be very strong, at least in relation to other draft classes. So if you are a quarterback, and the option is there for you to enter the draft in 2026 or 2027, obviously it would stand to reason that you could have come out this past spring, instead of next year.
However, doing what might be best, given overall market conditions is a vastly different proposition from doing what is right for the individual. South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers did what is best for himself, both present and future.
He articulated the rationale behind his decision at SEC Media Days this past week.
