Jurgen Klopp has been confirmed as the new head coach of Germany’s men’s national team.
The 59-year-old will replace Julian Nagelsmann who was relieved from the post after Germany’s shock World Cup exit at the round of 32 stage to Paraguay.
Klopp will resume to his new job on August 15 following his release by the Red Bull from his Head of Global Role with the energy drink company, owners of both Red Bull Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg football clubs.
The German Football Association secured Klopp’s release after agreeing to pay one million Euros to the “Wings for Life” foundation. The DFB also agreed to play three matches in Leipzig by the end of 2030.
The role will be Klopp’s first national team assignment in his managerial career.
He becomes the second top coach to take over a national team in recent years after Carlo Ancelotti’s highly celebrated appointment by Brazil.
