The sporting director Rudi Völler who also kept his job amidst a major reshuffle in the nation setup signalled that the armband will not be changing hands under the new gaffer.
At the International Coaches Congress in Mainz, the former German international commented on the captaincy situation under the rebuild of Klopp. “I would assume so” said the sporting director on whether Kimmich would remain the German captain. “Jo Kimmich has shown in many internationals that he is a standard-bearer, a great captain. I cannot imagine there will be any major change there,” he added (via Goal ).
