SAN FRANCISCO – The Milwaukee Brewers are going to be without one of their top run producers for a while.
The team announced on Tuesday, July 28 that first baseman-outfielder Jake Bauers suffered a fracture in his right big toe after fouling a ball off of it in Monday's 3-0 shutout loss to the San Francisco Giants with further imaging ultimately determining the length of time the 30-year-old will miss as a result.
There was no corresponding roster move immediately announced and with the Brewers being on the West Coast it's unlikely a replacement would be able to reach San Francisco until Wednesday, when the teams wrap up their three-game series with a matinee matchup.
Bauers is in the midst of a breakout season in which he's hitting .265 with 18 home runs and 60 runs batted in with an OPS of .856 over 97 games.
