Jackson Koivun, the former top-ranked amateur in the world, only turned pro after the U.S. Open earlier this summer. Andrew Wevers via Getty Images Jackson Koivun, just 24 days into his professional career, is already a winner on the PGA Tour.
The 21-year-old rookie successfully fended off top-ranked Scottie Scheffler at TPC Twin Cities on Sunday afternoon to secure the 3M Open title. Koivun, who only shed his amateur status earlier this month, fired a bogey-free 66 in the final round. That got him to 25-under on the week, which set a new tournament scoring record and was enough to pick up the three-shot win in Blaine, Minnesota.
The victory, in just his third PGA Tour start as a pro, also earned him a $1.584 million check .
Naturally, that led to a pretty emotional moment on the final green after his last par save.
