WICHITA ( KSNT ) — Topeka High’s Judy Dyer receives her sixth hall of fame induction.
On Saturday, July 25, Dyer was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame.
Dyer was a trailblazer for female track & field athletes in Topeka. She’s a member of the 1968 U.S. Olympic team and is a NAIA national indoor champion in both the 60-yard dash and the 80-meter hurdles. Topeka High School did not have a track program when Dyer was in school, so she competed for the Topeka Cosmopolitan Track Club.
“I never imagined being entered into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame,” Dyer told 27 Sports. “It says a lot that my community, Topeka, has given back to me, to help me get to this part of my life, because I couldn’t do it by myself.”
Dyer started running when she was nine, and always felt immense support from her hometown of Topeka.
