Alison Merrien (left) and Rose Ogier have been Guernsey's best performers on the bowls rink [BBC] Alison Merrien and Rose Ogier's hopes of making the knockout stages of the women's pairs bowls at the 2026 Commonwealth Games have suffered a blow.
The Guernsey pair, who were unbeaten after three matches, lost heavily to Northern Ireland's Chloe Wilson and Shauna O'Neill.
The Ulster duo have still yet to lose a game in Glasgow and top the group with two games to play as Guernsey drop to third - only the pool winners make the knockout stages.
Wilson and O'Neill were never behind in the match - they won the first set 4-1 before taking the second 8-1 having gone 5-0 up after three ends.
"We were expecting a tough game and that certainly was a tough game," Merrien told BBC Guernsey.
