FRSC Advises Motorists to Avoid Kara Bridge After Fatal Crashes
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists to use alternative routes as emergency responders continue rescue and recovery operations following two separate crashes at Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Friday.
The first crash occurred at about 12:05 a.m. on the outbound carriageway towards Ibadan, involving five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna.
According to the FRSC, preliminary investigations indicate that the crash was caused by speeding and loss of control.
Seven adult males were involved in the incident. One person died, another sustained injuries, while five others escaped unhurt. The agency said the deceased's body remains trapped beneath one of the heavily loaded trucks, with heavy-duty recovery equipment required for evacuation.
