Granted, the Providence Bruins have had a harder time translating regular-season success to postseason success. That will now fall to former Providence captain Trent Whitfield, named the 14th head coach in Providence history.
Hiring internally, Whitfield’s first head coaching job will keep him in Rhode Island’s capital for the 15th season of his long professional career as a player and coach.
