Former Wisconsin Badgers guard John Tonje recently met a crossroads in his infant NBA career, as the Boston Celtics did not make a qualifying offer for the guard. While for several NBA hopefuls this could have been a killer blow in their career, Tonje chose differently and instead left his mark on the NBA Summer League, averaging 14.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists across five games. As of Friday, July 24, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Tonje had found a new home with the Portland Trail Blazers .
The Portland Trail Blazers are signing guard John Tonje on a two-way NBA contract, George Roussakis and Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tell ESPN. Tonje appeared in six games for the Celtics last season as a rookie.
