Everton manager David Moyes wanted to bring the Toffees target to the Hill Dickinson Stadium last summer, holding face-to-face talks with him. However, the 23-year-old opted to join Chelsea after leaving Ipswich Town. Delap scored just one goal in 28 Premier League games last term, and another goal in 13 other appearances. Chelsea are ready to cut their losses and are closing in on a move for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Danny Welbeck.
