The Los Angeles Dodgers traded for right-handed reliever Seth Halvorsen last week, and he is already impressing through two appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Halvorsen came to the Dodgers on July 21, and made his debut for the Comets two days later. He threw just 11 pitches in his first outing with the organization, getting three outs in a close game, and came back onto the mound Sunday.
The right-hander came into the game with a three-run lead, and got four outs including his first strikeout with the team. Oklahoma City went on to lose the game, but plenty of positives came from Halvorsen’s performance.
He used his four-seamer, slider and splitter during the outing, and each pitch showed an uptick in velocity compared to the rest of the season. His fastball averaged 100.2 mph on the day, and both his slider and splitter averaged more than two mph faster than his yearly…
