The Detroit Tigers have another left-handed arm making serious noise in their farm system.
MLB Pipeline has moved Ben Jacobs to No. 5 in its updated ranking of Detroit’s top prospects, making the 22-year-old the highest-rated pitcher in the organization. Only Max Clark , Bryce Rainer, Josue Briceño and Jordan Yost sit ahead of him.
That is a notable rise for a pitcher Detroit selected in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
Jacobs’ Strikeout Ability Stands Out Jacobs has split the 2026 season between Single-A Lakeland and High-A West Michigan, posting a 4.70 ERA across 61⅓ innings . The run prevention has been uneven, but his ability to miss bats has been difficult to ignore.
The 6-foot-1 left-hander has recorded 89 strikeouts, good for 13.1 per nine innings. He has allowed only 50 hits while carrying a 1.32 WHIP.
