The Dansville Gliders collegiate baseball team won the New York Collegiate Baseball League Championship last week after taking the best of three championship series in two games Wednesday and Thursday.
The Gliders faced off with the Syracuse Saltcats, winning the first game in Syracuse, 5-3, and then capturing the championship on their home field in Dansville with a 10-7 victory on Thursday. The title was Dansville's first. Syracuse had defeated Dansville for the 2024 championship, and rallied to defeat the Genesee Rapids in 2025.
Coach Mike Bassage's Gliders finished the historic season with a 28-11 record.
After securing the title, the franchise took some time to honor longtime play-by-play announcer Frank Williams.
