NILES, OH (WBRE/WYOU)— The Williamsport Crosscutters grabbed an 8-3 win over Mahoning Valley on Wednesday night. The win puts the Crosscutters back within 1.5 games of State College for first place in the second half of the MLB Draft League Season.
Williamsport scored twice in the fourth, twice in the fifth, and four times in the ninth inning to run away with the win on Wednesday night. Nick Barone, Jack Kail, and Trey Wells all drove in a pair of runs against the Scrappers. Jake Zitella added the final RBI for Williamsport on Wednesday night.
Ryker Walton picked up his third win of the season against the Scrappers. Walton went five innings on Wednesday night, striking out seven batters while only allowing a single run.
The Crosscutters and Scrappers continue its series on Thursday night in Mahoning Valley. First pitch at 7 17 Credit Union Stadium, is set for 6:35pm.
