For new Orlando Magic head coach Sean Sweeney, the offseason does not really exist, at least right now.
Sweeney has been going nonstop for months. When he took the job with the Magic, he was still working as an assistant on Mitch Johnson’s staff with the San Antonio Spurs , as he was helping them through their deep postseason run.
When Sweeney was officially named the new head coach of the Magic on June 1, he was just two days away from coaching the Spurs in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
It was the second time in three seasons Sweeney was working as an integral assistant on a staff of a team in the Finals. The difference now was that Sweeney not only had the pressure of coaching on basketball’s biggest stage once again, but he also had the expectations of his first head coaching job awaiting him.
