Training camp begins on Saturday for the New England Patriots, with veterans reporting to the facility this week. Also getting underway are contract extension talks between the Patriots and star cornerback Christian Gonzalez , who is extension eligible coming off of his rookie contract.
Head coach Mike Vrabel spoke to the media on Friday, saying "He is here and I would expect him to participate. Those contract negotiations are ongoing… I'm excited about having Christian back here with us."
Since being drafted 17th overall in the 2023 draft after spending a season with the Oregon Ducks , Gonzalez has quickly cemented himself as one of the top cover men in the league. Standing 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, he notched a Pro Bowl appearance in 2025 and has been in the mix for an All-Pro nod in each of the last two seasons despite battling numerous injuries.
