Chelsea hit with FA fine and suspended transfer ban after admitting 74 rule breaches
Chelsea have been fined £10 million and handed a suspended two-window transfer ban after admitting 74 breaches of Football Association regulations relating to historical transactions under the club’s previous ownership.
The sanctions follow a lengthy FA investigation into breaches of its Football Agent Regulations, Regulations on Working with Intermediaries and Third-Party Investment in Players Regulations.
The case relates to conduct between 2009 and 2022, with the FA stating that the majority of the breaches occurred between the 2010-11 and 2015-16 seasons while Roman Abramovich owned the club.
Chelsea’s current owners, BlueCo, self-reported the potential breaches after completing their takeover in 2022 and subsequently cooperated with the investigation.
