The deal makes Ward the highest paid defensive back in league history on a per year basis.
The deal comes in the midst of negotiations between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Joey Porter Jr. on a contract extension of his own. The Penn State product is entering the final year of his rookie contract and he, along with fellow cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Devon Witherspoon are seeking contract extensions.
