Brody Malone will miss next week's Xfinity U.S. Championships as he is taking this season off to rest and recover, a rep for the two-time Olympian said.
"He'll be back in competition next season as he begins preparing for the 2028 Olympic Games," the rep said in an email.
Malone, the U.S. all-around champion in 2021, 2022 and 2024, still plans to be in attendance at nationals in Phoenix to cheer on his teammates, including fellow 2024 Olympic bronze medalists Frederick Richard and Stephen Nedoroscik.
Asher Hong, another 2024 Olympian, was not on the list of registered gymnasts as of Monday. Athletes have until Friday to sign up.
Last October, Malone won his second world title on high bar, two and a half years after severely injuring his right knee on a high bar dismount fall.
He became the third American man to win multiple career gold medals in World Gymnastics Championships…
