NEW YORK — There is never a good time to lose Juan Soto, but with the Mets' 2026 season spiraling away and the trade deadline looming, the waiting game will be less of a chore.
The Mets did everything they could to keep Juan Soto on the field as he nursed a balky calf, but that extra time on the field was eventually too much.
After undergoing an MRI on Saturday, Soto was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left calf strain and landed on the 10-day injured list.
Interim manager said that Soto, who was removed from Friday's game before his third at-bat as a designated hitter, will miss more time than earlier in the season when he missed 15 games with a strain in the other calf.
"This last week, we gave him at-bats, we gave him rest at times when we felt it appropriate and then yesterday he couldn’t get over the hump," Green said. "So is it possible we could have looked back and thought we could…
