We continue the countdown to the start of the Arizona Cardinals ' regular season. Today, Tuesday, July 28, is 47 days away from the Arizona Cardinals' regular-season opener on Sept. 13 on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With 47 days until Week 1, let's look back at the 1947 season for the Cardinals.
A look back at the 1947 season for the Cardinals The Cardinals have never won a Super Bowl, but they won the NFL Championship in 1947. They went 9-3 in the regular season and then beat the Philadelphia Eagles 28-21 in the championship game.
Running back Elmer Angsman had two 70-yard touchdown runs, running back Charley Trippi had a 44-yard touchdown run and a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown. Paul Christman only completed three passes in 14 attempts and was picked off twice, but the Cardinals rushed for 282 yards to be crowned champions.
