The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has called for the immediate suspension of the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani, over his appearance at what the party described as a partisan political event ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The opposition party made the demand in a statement shared on its official social media page on Tuesday, accusing the police commissioner of compromising the neutrality expected of the Nigeria Police Force.
The reaction followed the circulation of a video showing the Lagos police commissioner at an event reportedly organised by the City Boy Movement Lagos State Chapter.
The group is widely associated with supporters of President Bola Tinubu.
According to the NDC, the commissioner’s presence at the gathering raises concerns about his ability to discharge his responsibilities impartially during the next general election.
